Jeg er nødt til at tvinge det ud, fordi drevet (som andre almindelige drev) vil prøve at læse en blok igen og igen, indtil den læser med succes eller når timeout. Når det sidder fast og prøver at læse en beskadiget blok, blokerer kernen processen / tråd indtil der er et resultat. Den applikation, der venter på I / O, fungerer som om den er stoppet, så selv ved at bruge force quit / sigkill vil du ikke afslutte applikationen. Da timeout normalt er lang til hjemmebrugt HHD, fryser kernens GUI-komponent i systemet (Finder + Dock) i lang tid og forhindrer normal brug.
